Obama’s Not the Problem, We Are

If  you’ve peeked your head out of the hole of hopelessness you dug for yourself two weeks ago, then you’ve heard lots of people chanting “recount” and attributing Obama’s win to voter fraud.

I’m not saying that there wasn’t any funny business going on.  But, it’s not a ridiculous notion that America would re-elect a president that is blatantly rewriting our Constitution.  Talk to people in the line at your Publix.  Look at who/what your Facebook friends “like.”  What if Obama’s not the problem?  What if we are?

We are a culture that consistently preaches that there is no ultimate truth, that gray areas exist, that there is no such thing as good and evil, that everyone has a different standard of right and wrong.  The idea that we were made in the image of God is hate speech.  Kids are watching ABC Family shows where 13- year-olds are sleeping with their girlfriends and their parents’ job is to make sure they have condoms – shows where two daddies are “the new normal.”  More moderate schools are teaching that everyone can get an “A” based on their effort, rather than what they know.  No one should have to work for anything because we are all equal.  That is what our little nieces and nephews and even peers are being taught.  This generation doesn’t know right from wrong.  Isn’t that a scary thought?

Whether or not the election was rigged, conservatives are becoming a minority.  Shock value doesn’t exist anymore because we’ve seen it all by the time we reach middle school.

I just read an article about a man named Lance Gilman.  Gilman is a brothel owner who just got elected Storey County commissioner in Nevada.  It wasn’t even a tight race.   He won by 62%!  I didn’t know this, but apparently, prostitution is illegal everywhere in the U.S. except in 10 counties in Nevada (Las Vegas is not one of them).   There are 24 completely legally operated brothels found in these counties, since prostitution has been legal there since 1971.

In this Fox News article Gilman said, “I use the term caregivers for our industry.  The public has no idea, but so many of the men we deal with are damaged or widowed or in need of kindness.  The industry is so much more about providing care and human nurturing than anything else.”

This man, that Storey County just elected, is exalting prostitutes and calling them CAREGIVERS.  I’d really like to hear him say that to any actual caregivers – nurses, housewives, mothers, etc. and see how they react.

So, you see, whether Obama won the election fairly or not, our problem is not simply Barack Obama.  Our problem is the heart of our country.  Our nation’s founders were Christians who fled England and came here for the freedom to worship God.  Now, our country is running away from God.  God is a dirty word that the Democratic Party voted to remove from their platform at the DNC.  Remember that?

For Christians and Conservatives, now is not the time to resign.  We will never be a nation of Catholics or Baptists or Methodists.  But, we were once a free nation, and we can be again, if we fight back while we still have a voice.  What does this look like, practically?  We need to stand up for what is right and stand against what is wrong, because Lord knows, Hollywood, our politicians, and even our public school teachers won’t do it.

Christians, you can talk to your local church about different ways to serve the community  – fighting against abortion and poverty and fighting for religious freedom.  Non-Christian conservatives, you can look into organizations like Freedom Works and keep up with current events here at Young Patriots to find ways you can get involved.   How can we fight the culture war?  Stop being a part of it.  Just because its on NBC, it doesn’t mean that you should let your kids watch it.  Follow your convictions and be the one to say, “No, this isn’t right,” – even if it makes you unpopular.

We may have lost the election, but we haven’t lost the war.  The fight’s not over.  Let’s win America back.

Yes, please, by all means, conservatives, make yourselves even more extremist and socially irrelevant; it’ll make the future election of more progressive leaders even easier. Of course people still have morals — they aren’t the same as the morals of people living a hundred years ago, just like the morals of those people were radically different from those living a hundred years before that, and theirs were different from a century before that, and so on. No surer way to seal the deal on your party’s extinction than to insist that everything has to stay the same forever. So like I said — go for it.
