No matter who you think won last night’s presidential debate, it’s unlikely to have much bearing on the presidential election. In the end, voters simply don’t care about the issues of foreign policy anywhere near as much as they do about their own economic security.

We have only added 1.3 million jobs since the beginning of the year, after adding only 1.8 million in 2011 and just 1 million in 2010. Those numbers are not nearly good enough to make a dent in the millions of people who have been chronically unemployed and/or underemployed since the recession officially ended in June 2009.
